Everything You Need to Know About BBL
BroadBand Light (BBL) is a form of powerful pulsed light therapy that can be used to treat a variety of skin problems. This FDA-approved skin rejuvenation procedure, also known as a photofacial or photorejuvenation, is most widely used to treat noticeable symptoms of aging on the face, neck, hands, and stomach, but it can also be used on the legs and other regions. BBL can treat aging, sun exposure, lines, freckles, spots, irregular skin tone, and texture. Photofacials are a non-ablative procedure that can assist with a number of skin problems.
What Skin Problems Can BBL Help With?
Acne, rosacea, age spots, sun spots, fine lines, and wrinkles are some of the skin concerns that can be treated with photofacials. Spider veins and other small blood vessels, as well as damaged capillaries and vascular lesions, may all be treated with it.
What Is the Duration of Treatment?
The length of your procedure will be determined by the extent of the affected area and how much we are treating in one session. This can vary from client to client but may mean anywhere from a few minutes to a half-hour.
What to Expect Before, During, and After Treatment
Treatment begins with a consultation to determine whether BBL is right for you. Waxing, topical skincare, or a chemical peel may be used in the preparation for treatment, depending on the condition of your skin. You should also minimize sun exposure during BBL therapy; you should not be tanned or sunburned before receiving this treatment. Antiviral medicine can be prescribed if you suffer from cold sore flare-ups.
During treatment, your skin will be put under high-intensity light from the BBL device.
Moisturizer and sunscreen will then be applied to soothe and protect your skin. After a BroadBand Light treatment, your skin could appear pink or sunburned for around two to four hours. Some people can experience swelling, usually around the eye area for three to five days after the procedure. A series of treatments is usually recommended. Depending upon your skincare needs this usually looks like between one and four sessions spaced out a few weeks apart.
How Long Do Results Last?
If you use an effective sunscreen on a daily basis, the results will last up to a year. Additional therapies for rosacea and vascular sun damage may be needed. Treatments with BBL are normally fast and painless. On olive or brown skin, BBL treatments may cause burning, scarring, or hyperpigmentation. You’ll need a combination of therapies to get the best results.
