What To Expect During Your Lip Filler Treatment
At your consultation, your doctor will establish your goals, review your health history, and discuss how they will conduct your lip filler procedure.
When you return for your lip filler, your doctor will apply a topical anesthetic to numb the lips. This will keep you comfortable and prevent you from feeling any pain during the injections. Once the anesthetic is in full effect, around 15 to 30 minutes later, your doctor will utilize a thin needle and begin injecting the filler. The amount of filler and the injection areas will vary depending on your goals. Treatment time may range between 30 minutes and two hours, depending on the amount of injections needed.
Aftercare Instructions
Once the treatment is over, your doctor may massage the area to help them absorb the filler. They will then monitor you for about 15 minutes to ensure you don’t experience any side effects.
You may experience some swelling and bruising; however, this should subside in the next few days. Apply ice to the area for 10 minutes at a time to help reduce swelling and mitigate pain and discomfort.
While you’re healing, you should avoid lip balm, lipstick, and exercise for the next 24 hours. Refrain from actions that involve puckering your lips, such as kissing or using a straw, and exercise caution when brushing your teeth and eating.
How Long Do Results Last?
Results from lip filler last around 12 to 18 months and begin to dissolve slowly. However, you can receive touch-ups to help maintain your desired aesthetic.
